Optional Rope vs Paracord Draw Strings

Our Net Closure Cords (draw strings)

As many of you know we love offering our customers choices and what better than offering you a choice in the cordage used as the closure of your Hay Burners Equine slow feed hay nets.  The cord type included at no added cost is our “paracord” closure that includes a metal cord lock.  As the name implies, paracord is used in the parachute industry to attach the canopy to the rigging.  This use demands a high-quality material that will stand up to weather and abrasions.  This makes the paracord material an excellent choice for a hay net bag closure.  The paracord material is provided in random colors we select when building the net bags.  We typically batch paracord colors into like bags.  If you have a specific color category you would like we will do our best to accommodate the request.  Just add a note to your order during checkout.  As an FYI, the paracord is around 1/8” in diameter.  Though paracord serves it’s purpose well we do not recommend hanging your hay net bag using this cord because knots are very difficult to remove especially if your horse like to grab the net and pull on it.

Alternatively to the paracord we have the ¼” diameter polyester rope option.  This is a swap out for the paracord at a small upcharge.  The rope option is ordered separately in the “Accessories” category of our webstore.  Colors are White, Black, Blue, Orange and Yellow.  The rope option employs a larger, heavier cord lock as well.  The rope material is a tightly woven polyester casing with a solid core.  It ties nicely into a knot and unties without a struggle.  Roughly 50% of our hanging bag sales choose the rope upgrade.  This is the option we always recommend for those customers looking to hang the net bag using the closure cord.

All our round bale and large rectangle bale, e.g. 3x3x8, 4x4x8, nets come standard with the rope as a closure.

In most cases our customers select a single rope color that matches up with the nets they are purchasing.  At times however, customers will select multiple colors of ropes and a variety of nets.  In these cases we install the ropes as we see fit but if you have a preference please add instructions in the customer check out notes section while checking out.  We would prefer to deliver your nets exactly as you desire.

We hope this helps to unravel (poor choice of words?) the mystery behind our closure cords and provides you with more guidance in making the best choice to suit your slow feed net requirements.
