Sorry. Ordered the wrong size, your web site is confusing. Needs better size descriptions. Returning but will reorder.
laurie (store manager) –
I am sorry about any confusion, the item description shows as noted below. I will try to make it even clearer
Small Mini (holds about 1 pound of hay approximately 16″x 16″ when stretched) about the size of a basket ball when full
Large Mini bag (holds about 3 pounds of hay approximately 16″x 25″ when stretched )

Love them!! This is my second time buying the small mini bags as first one’s finally needed replaced after many years of abuse from an aggressive eater. Would definitely buy again!! They are perfect size!
Elaine (verified owner) –
Love these Nets a lot. My friend Karen told me about them.i love that they come with extra netting just incase!
Ellen (verified owner) –
The nets work great for my palomino and two minis. I recommend the heavy-duty net. The horses take several hours to go through a bag.
Cindy M. (verified owner) –
Purchased 2 – 1″ large mini heavyweight with upgraded cords. These appear to be very sturdy. Have had them in service a couple weeks now with no issues. My 32″ mini has very crooked teeth and was having challenges pulling the hay out of the .75″ I previously purchased. The 1″ works perfectly for her and it’s an adequate size for holding up to 2 lbs of timothy hay without being too tightly packed. This bag is a little too small for my 36″ mini so I will be ordering a single serve bag for her. I highly recommend!
Ellen Warhit (verified owner) –
I love the heavy duty nets. It takes the horses a while to eat their hay and just keeps them busy. I LOVE it.
Cindy M. (verified owner) –
This was my second set for my mins. The 3/4″ large mini was a little too small for one of my minis with really bad teeth in the front. So I will be ordering more 1″ which is perfect for her. Highly recommend.
Patricia (verified owner) –
Best Hay bags on the market! Great for mini’s and ponies.
Cindy M. (verified owner) –
My tiny rescue mini needed a 1.25″ bag for easier eating with her very bad teeth. She is very happy now.
Shannon K (verified owner) –
Best hay nets on the market. I have a few for each of my mini horses…….
…makes it soooo easy to feed multiple times a day. Keeps them happily
munching..even though they are not eating a lot……..reducing the chance for ulcers!
These put the waste down to nothing if you feed good quality hay.
Do NOT start w the smaller holes…buy the largest one and wean your horse as they get
used to eating from them.. Prevents a frustrated , hungry horse.

This is perfect for feeding a mini as it can be completely filled without giving too much hay.
Melissa H. (verified owner) –
Great heavy duty hay bag! Slowing down my monster mini’s eating habits. Love it!! Thank you!
Kay Hunter (verified owner) –
Perfect for our girls!
Kay Hunter (verified owner) –
Perfect size for the serving of hay we give our minis!
Nancy B. (verified owner) –
Doesn’t hold as much hay as we thought – only used it 1 time so far. Also – we have to soak hay and not sure the webbing will dry quick or stay wet. Seems really well made – strong.
Sandra (verified owner) –
My mini loves this hay bag. I ordered the 3/4 inch opening, and I think that’s ideal for him.
Kimberly (verified owner) –
These nets are perfect for our miniature horse! They really slow down his eating, and makes his meals last much longer. They are easy to fill and are high quality. I’ll definitely purchase them again!
Sylvia Gatzke (verified owner) –
Holes are to small.
laurie (store manager) –
You ordered a 3/4″ mesh, that was was shipped. We have larger hole nets available that you could have purchased instead. FAQ’s are available that discuss mesh/hole sizes
Kristen (verified owner) –
Perfect size for my Mini Donkeys.
Alexis (verified owner) –
I know there’s advice to be careful with this for horses. I give my guy a half size bag with most of his overnight hay AND this mini bag with the last 1.5 pounds. He gets it out and I don’t know when in the night he’s done but it does slow him down. I’m trying to avoid him going too long without having nibbles. Would love this net in a larger size!!!! I’d split his feedings half and half with a 1” net.
laurie (store manager) –
Hi Alexis,
the next size up from a large Mini is the single serve, its the same length but just a bit wider . Hope this helps and thank you for your reviews
Sara (verified owner) –
I have overweight saddlebreds that are very mouthy. I use the 3/4” opening (smallest I can find) hay bags to keep them busy and happy. The knotless are better for their lips and I haven’t found another bag with openings small enough to keep horses from emptying bags within minutes. I’ve used them for several years and they hold up well. I hang them all over in a large dry lot to promote movement rather than have them standing at a single feeding station. One horse works hard to get every blade through the openings; another just beats it up until it falls out; either way, it keeps them busy.
Kelly (verified owner) –
They’re perfect! I use this size for my goats. No more waste! Best quality netting I’ve found.
Kim Y. (verified owner) –
We love the miniature hay bags for our pony. It holds the perfect amount of hay for him. The customer service at Hayburners is outstanding! Our items are always shipped quickly.
Sioux Winter (verified owner) –
These hay nets are perfect size for my minis. Fairly easy to fill up as far as hay nets go. Smooth no-knots material.
Suzette M. (verified owner) –
Love these hay nets for my two Miniature horses. They are on a dry lot. This makes the hay last all day. It keeps them busy so their minds aren’t on mischief such as wood chewing, etc. Super durable. Although I replace the drawstring closing rope with a thick marine rope for hanging.
Maureen (verified owner) –
Fast shipping, great quality. Definitely slows my little guy down with his hay. Will absolutely purchase more.
Gretchen (verified owner) –
My ponies are doing great with these. Love them as they are soft yet sturdy. I want to buy more!!!
Candace (verified owner) –
I bought these as boredom-busters for my arabs when they are in their stalls. I have only been using them a couple days so far, but seem to be well made and withstanding the beating of a full sized horse. Shipping was prompt. Recommend!
Anonymous (verified owner) –
I really like the bag, I got the large but wish it was a little larger.
laurie (store manager) –
the next size up is the single serve which you purchased also. They are the same length but the single server is wider
Phyllis O. (verified owner) –
They are just right for my minis. Fast shipping and description was exact.
Robin (verified owner) –
Love these bags! Very well made and mini holes are perfect to keep a horse stall bound with laminitis busy most of the day without gorging on hay.
Tami M. (verified owner) –
Perfect size for my minis!
Donna (verified owner) –
It is very hard to find items for mini horses. This hay net was very well made and came in different hole sizes. I ave small minis so that was a plus.
Barbara VanArsdale (verified owner) –
Bought 3/4 hole and it is great. Very durable.
Traci Ritter (verified owner) –
I bought the same feeder bag last hear that bag came with a much more ridgid netting heavier per say. This bag is nice seems to be working somewhat concerned of the netting just feels softer. So far working well thank you
laurie (store manager) –
This was made from a new batch of netting, its made to the same specifications and by the same manufacturer as the previous lot of 3/4″. I believe the weave is just a tiny bit looser which is why its a little softer.
Anonymous (verified owner) –
Very small! Shocked on how small. I will be returning both nets I purchased.
laurie (store manager) –
I am sorry to hear you are not happy with your purchase. Please note the bag sizes are clearly noted in the item description.
Small Mini (holds about 1 pound of hay approximately 16″x 16″ when stretched) about the size of a basket ball when full
Large Mini bag (holds about 3 pounds of hay approximately 16″x 25″ when stretched )
Joyce B. (verified owner) –
Too early to tell how durable they are but initial impression is good. I like the material used for the ties.
Patty R. (verified owner) –
I ordered too small…most stretch, but not these. I like them just should have ordered a little bigger hole.
Minde G. (verified owner) –
Very nice quality hay net
Kathleen K. (verified owner) –
These mini hay nets are the perfect size for my 2 miniature horses. Good quality and durable nets for the price!
Deslie (verified owner) –
These bags that hold 3 lls of hay are perfect and the quality is superb, very well made.
Anonymous (verified owner) –
Great hay net – my mini would prefer having to work less to get his hay, but he is adjusting to the smaller netting.
Kathleen O. (verified owner) –
3/4 size great for chopped hay. It takes my mini all day to eat his 3 lbs. it’s perfect!
Robin W. (verified owner) –
Fantastic quality as usual! Thank you so much!
Deslie G. (verified owner) –
These heavy duty 1 1/4 inch bags for large minis are the best bag on the market. They hold up to 3 lb and I use them for my quarter horse who has allergies to oatspores so she gets limited hay twice a day and a main diet of alfalfa pellets. My mini loves the bag. To fill them I use a stable hand you can purchase from Schneider Saddlery. They are thin plastic that you can roll up insert in any bag and it will stand up.
Anonymous (verified owner) –
We absolutely love these nets! My rough little donkeys have not damaged a single heavy duty bag since we bought them almost a year ago with everyday use. We exclusively use this brand now, and just purchased 5 more- 3/4″ heavy duty nets.
Randy (verified owner) –
Work very well for my minis
Kay (verified owner) –
Great price for great haybags
Chandra (verified owner) –
We have been using Hayburners nets for several years after trying multiple other brands that just didn’t hold up. These work great at helping my herd ration their hay and hold up better than any other brand I have tried.
Karen Strickland-Deveau (verified owner) –
The large mini will hold 3 pounds of hay, but not without a ton of effort and at the risk of bloodying your knuckles. It holds 1 1/2 pounds comfortably. I thought for sure that I must’ve ordered the incorrect size (small mini) last year but alas, I didn’t. One size larger that doesn’t take any effort to fill would be great as the large mini net.
laurie (store manager) –
The large mini is very popular and majority of folks are quite happy with the size of the bag. Sorry you are not happy with your purchase, You could have returned it for the next larger size (single serve) if you were unhappy when you first filled it. We offer a large variety of bag sizes to try to accommodate most equestrian needs, what works for one person may not for another. Hay is different all over the country and different hays weigh different amounts depending on compaction and type of grass.
Ginney Duffey (verified owner) –
WORKS GREAT FOR TOBY!
Deslie G. (verified owner) –
I love your mini horse heavy duty bags that fill to three plus pounds. I’m giving this a four-star instead of a five until I see how the netting performs as it is much limper and doesn’t appear to be what I had before. Even though I say this, it is still better than anything else in the market for minis.
Natalie M. (verified owner) –
These are fantastic! Perfect for a track system! Durable and love no knots!
Peggy (verified owner) –
Love these snack size nets for my horse. He has metabolic syndrome so I have to portion out his hay carefully throughout the day. Large net holds approximately one flake.
Linsay E. (verified owner) –
I bought the 3/4 mesh for my dehorned dwarf goats. The vet said they needed a diet, and this is our solution. The goats hate it, but I love it! They really have to exercise their browsing skills. Nothing gets wasted anymore.
