Veterinarian Approved…
More recently we have been getting customers reaching out to us saying their Veterinarian told them to purchase a slow feed hay net. For the most part this has been in a response to a diagnosis of ulcers. We applaud these veterinarians realizing the benefits of slow feeding in conjunction with the more customary forms of treatment. Moving forward we would like to see veterinarians “prescribe” slow feed hay nets for other ailments as well. At Hay Burners Equine we consider overweight, stall vices IE cribbing, and mental stress all ailments that often go untreated. Many times mental stress is a big contributor to the ulcers diagnosed.
Slow feeding has been proven over and over to reduce and eliminate the onset of these common and frustrating ailments in our horses. Using the adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” we at Hay Burners Equine stress the benefits of being proactive in the care of your horse’s health. As horse owners we tend to migrate to the “magic pill” of supplements and we’ll admit some are worthwhile. Too often however we overlook the simple basics of feeding our equine friends in the way nature intended. Add to that argument, you can get into quite a lengthy discussion and even argument with your vet over what supplements and bagged feeds you should be feeding but we have not heard a single vet claim that slow feeding hay was not a sensible method. So consider these points when deciding how best to spend your dollars in keeping your horse healthy. We’re always here to assist you in making the right choice for your feeding program. Many happy customers will back us on that claim
